The Impact of School Climate on the Mental Health of LGBTQIA+ Youth
This discussion, led by Elizabeth Whalen Gaeth, examines the impact of school environments on the mental health of LGBTQIA+ youth. Given their increased risk of mental health challenges, the school climate plays a crucial role in either supporting or harming their wellbeing. Gaeth, a board-certified music therapist and behavioral health psychology graduate student, will explore the effects of marginalization, relevant research findings, and strategies for creating more inclusive school environments. Participants are encouraged to engage, share experiences, and reflect on how these insights can support LGBTQIA+ youth and advocates.
